ADVANTAGES
- Once you build it tidal power is free
- It produces no greenhouse gases or other waste.
- It produces eletricity in a reliable way
- It's not exspensive to maintain
- Tides are totally predictable
- Off shore turbines and vertical-axis turbines are not exspensive to build and do not have a large environmental impact

Disadvantages
- A barrage across the estuary is very exspensive to build, and affects a very wide area of environment
- Fish can't migrate not unless "Fish ladders" are installed
- Tidal power provides power for about ten hours a day, each day, when the tide is actually moving
- There are few suitable sites for tidal barrages
